Position Type/ Hours: These are permanent full-time position working thirty-five (35) hours per week.

Position Description: The GIS Technologist will support the work of the Geographic Information Systems branch in the municipality and effectively liaise with business units to advance GIS in the Municipality. The successful candidate will utilize advanced tools in ArcGIS in order to perform cartographic, analytical and administrative GIS work.

Qualifications:

  • University Degree in Geography, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline with a concentration in Geographic Information Systems.
  • Two (2) years direct work experience using Geographic Information Systems software (credit is provided for experience gained during work terms depending on the depth and breadth of the experience).
  • Experience with Python Scripting or other scripting/programming languages (preference is provided to those who have demonstrated work experience and/or University and College course training).
  • Experience using and/or administering Enterprise Databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, etc.)
  • Experience and understanding in working with Cadastral layers.
  • Experience with Spatial Analysis & Design.
  • Experience with Cartographic Design.
  • Ability to effectively make decisions that consider both strategic and operational consequences.
  • ArcGIS for Desktop Advanced.
  • Multivariate and Spatial Statistics.
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access) (Intermediate to Advanced skills).
  • Extract, Transform, and Loading methods (FME Feature Manipulation Engine) an asset.
  • CAD skills.
  • Global Position System (GPS) data acquisition would be an asset.
  • Python Scripting an asset.
  • Enterprise Databases an asset.
  • Excellent communication, inter-personal, and organizational skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of an energetic team.

Pay / Classification Level: PL 16

Salary Range: $39.19 (Probationary Rate)         
$42.95 – $46.02 (Permanent Rates)
