Since 1963, URISA has been the professional home of choice for Public Sector GIS and IT Executives throughout the United States, Canada and other countries worldwide. URISA has provided a strong record of leadership in the GIS industry by providing high quality professional education, fostering communications among IT/GIS management professionals in provincial/state and local government, and encouraging a multi-disciplinary approach to the design, use and management of urban and regional information systems.
URISA was the founding member of the GIS Certification Institute, the organization that administers professional certification and the Code of Ethics for professionals in the field. Other initiatives like the URISA GIS Hall of Fame, Exemplary Systems in Government (ESIG) Award and the GISCorps, which provides volunteer GIS support for underdeveloped countries and also supports disaster recovery efforts, are also URISA initiatives that have received international recognition.
If your organization provides GIS or IT products or services to government, and you want to get connected with the most influential Public Sector GIS & IT executives in the world, URISA is the place to be.
Did you know:
Of our 2,200 members, more than 55% represent Local Government organizations: 74% are GIS and IT professionals
URISA’s reach extends further to our nearly 8,000 local chapter members in the United States and Canada.
URISA has two membership categories for the vendor community. Corporate membership is for organizations with more than ten employees; Business membership is for smaller firms. Both options include the same marketing benefits—from discounts on booth space and your company profile on the URISA website … to the receipt of RFPs and access to the URISA membership list. Corporate and business members are welcome to participate on any URISA committee, including the Industry Relations Committee, a group that provides valuable direction to the URISA leadership.
Also included are individual membership benefits for you and your employees. (Four individual memberships are included with corporate membership; Two individual memberships are included with business membership.)
URISA has a number of conferences on its schedule:
Each conference includes an opportunity for the vendor community to reach attendees, whether through exhibit hall contacts or through presentation opportunities and receptions.
Note: The intention is to make it less difficult for small businesses (with limited resources) to participate fully in URISA activities, allowing opportunities for growth so that they might become a future corporate member.
We encourage you to become involved with URISA by becoming a corporate member at one of the following levels:

Testimonials:
"For me, URISA is a kind of community of friends and professionals that are interested in sharing their REAL experiences in implementing technology in public service organizations. In the early years, I had the opportunity to present my work, get constructive criticism, and discuss the concepts and ideas of how GIS could make a meaningful contribution to society. It goes without saying that it is one of my favorite professional associations, not to mention that I always have fun at the annual meetings!"
