Responsibilities

  • Maintain the GIS Website, developing and editing functionality as needed
  • Develop custom applications in ArcGIS and ArcIMS: Develop logical models; block diagrams and logic flow charts; translate detailed design into computer software; test, debug, and refine the computer software to produce the required product; prepare required documentation, including both program-level and user-level documentation; enhance software to reduce operating time and/or improve efficiency
  • Geodatabase administration
  • Automation of data backup, conversion, and updates for web/FTP server
  • Assist and resolve day-to-day issues for website users
  • Attend various meetings, training courses, conferences, and workshops
  • Perform additional duties and assignments as requested

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • Demonstrated experience with ESRI products, v. 9.0 or newer, is preferred
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio
  • Desired experience: Microsoft Studio.Net, Microsoft SQL Server, VB.NET, Visual Basic 6.0/for Applications/Script, ArcXML, GPS equipment/software/data, ArcGIS Enterprise Server
  • Ability to develop applications in ArcGIS using ArcObjects (preferred), Avenue, or MapObjects
  • ArcSDE/Geodatabase model experience, SQL-based preferred
  • ArcIMS site development and maintenance
  • Experience in web programming and design – HTML or Javascript; ASP and XML experience a plus
  • Proactive and comprehensive troubleshooting and problem solving skills; self-motivated learner who continually keeps up to date with new technology; experience in public sector assignments preferred; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; written and verbal English language proficiency

This is not a bargaining unit position.
