POSITION: INFRASTRUCTURE DATA CO-ORDINATOR II
SALARY RANGE: $49,170 - $61,464 (B2)

PREFERRED BACKGROUND: Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, and/or a Post-graduate Certificate in Geographic Information Systems, plus 3-5 years of progressive working experience. Must have experience using ESRI suite of software (specifically ArcGIS and ArcPAD) and be familiar with Trimble GPS units and Hansen’s Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), v7 or v8. Project Management Certification desired. A demonstrated background and understanding of planning and public works infrastructure in a municipal engineering environment, plus a sound understanding of GIS principles and practices, relational database fundamentals, MS Access and spatial data sets is desired. Excellent communication, presentation, problem resolution, leadership and interpersonal skills are required to excel in this team based work environment. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

DUTIES:

  • Provides leadership to identify initiatives to complete operational goals, and leads a diverse work group to ensure completion of major projects and programs.
  • Performs final quality control checks in GIS and/or Access, and creates and implements QA/QC procedures/tools.
  • Manages complex data sets, ensuring data accuracy, data synchronization between different systems and system knowledge is effectively deployed to staff.
  • Collaborates with data and project stakeholders to ensure products and projects meet departmental and corporate goals.
  • Manipulates tabular and spatial data, conducts spatial analysis, queries the GIS database.
  • Presents data clearly and efficiently using maps and charts for use within the department, capital budget process, Council reports, and various studies in support of operational requirements.
  • Develops specifications, project documentation, recommendations, and data update and output routines to manage the data.
  • Develops custom routines to provide increased access to data for users across the department.
  • Provides expertise and recommends enhancements or modifications to the Planning and Public Works geo-spatial relational database model.
  • Leads various initiatives and projects to increase asset positional accuracy.
  • Assists in the evaluation of existing third party software to determine suitability for users needs, time involved to convert the programs to run on in-house hardware and costs involved in relation to budget.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
