About the Conference

The 47th Annual URISA Conference concluded on October 2. Though the economy impacted our attendance this year, the program, conversations and connections were as important as ever!

Important Education

URISA Certified Preconference Workshops - The Workshop Development Committee, authors, reviewers and instructors out-did themselves this year with eight full workshops, two of which were brand new to the URISA library and one of which was completely updated. The other five each underwent substantial reviews and updates as well. Excellent content and engaging presenters!

  • GIS Strategic Planning
  • Crime Mapping & Analysis - NEW
  • Field Automation and Mobile GIS
  • Introduction to Agile: Project Management & Development- NEW
  • An Overview of Open Source GIS Software
  • LIDAR Concepts, Principals and Applications
  • 3D Geospatial
  • Cartography and Map Design - COMPLETELY UPDATED

Consider holding one of these workshops at your local chapter and/or organization in the coming year. Bring the content to you and your colleagues.

Peer Presentations - The conference program committee reviewed nearly 200 abstract submissions and presentation ideas to come up with an outstanding educational program.

Outstanding Sessions:

Events to Help you Connect and Learn

2009 URISA Annual Conference & Exposition Committee

This conference is guided and organized by an esteemed group of professionals. Without their expertise and enthusiasm, this conference would not be possible.

The Conference Committee met in Anaheim last March to review abstract submissions and develop the conference educational content. Thanks to their hard work, we had a great program to offer!

Danielle Ayan and Geney Terry consider the line-up.
