URISA Partners

URISA collaborates with a number of organizations and appreciates their input  — and the opportunity to provide our input — on issues of importance to our membership. Of course,  URISA Chapters are our most important partners.

Federal Government

URISA is a Collaborating Partner of the Federal Geographic Data Committee and also works closely with the U.S. Geological Survey and U.S. Census Bureau. URISA members are active participants on numerous federal/state/local government committees and work groups.

In Canada, URISA members are active participants with GeoConnections which leads the effort towards a Canadian National Data Infrastructure.

International/National Organizations

Long ago, URISA realized that partnering with like-minded associations would provide opportunities to extend our educational mission and consider new  issues related to technology integration and our membership.

URISA was the founding member of the GIS Certification Institute (GISCI) and fully supports the GISCI mission. URISA is committed to providing its members ample opportunities to achieve GIS professional certification.

We have a 'sister' association in Australia, the Spatial Sciences Institute (SSI), and greatly value our exchange of lessons learned and ideas.

The National States Geographic Information Council (NSGIC) and URISA frequently work together to bring issues of state and local importance to the attention of federal agencies.

The International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO) and URISA have entered their second decade of collaboration with the successful joint conference, Integrating GIS & CAMA, promoting technology and integration within the local assessor's office.

A URISA partner for many years in the Street Smart and Address Savvy Conference, the National Emergency Number Association (NENA) and URISA now collaborate on an annual event, the  Geospatial Integration for Public Safety Conference.

URISA also works closely with Government Management Information Systems (GMIS), a not-for -profit organization consisting of all levels of government involved in Information Technology and educational institutions dealing in the affairs of State, County, City or local government.

URISA is also proud to count these organizations as partners with whom we have long-standing working relationships:

Of course, with URISA's involvement in the Coalition of Geospatial Organizations (COGO) the relationship with many of our partners has become more formal and productive.

Regional & State Organizations

URISA works closely with numerous professional organizations that are not part of the URISA Chapter network, including:
