Emergency Response – Accurate Location is the Key
Often the spatial data collected for 9-1-1 can be used to support other response activities. Address Systems and Assignment Practices
Addresses are assigned based on sets of rules that have been developed over time in each local jurisdiction. In many cases the rules are not well documented, and addresses are not assigned consistently. Addresses are also often assigned later in the development process than is consistent with public safety and the property owner's ability to use and develop his land. These papers will talk about addressing systems, and how and when addresses should be assigned.
