GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEMS (GIS) ANALYST

VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, ILLINOIS

We seek a professional candidate for the position of GIS Analyst within the Village's Public Works Department. This full time position works under the Director of Public Works and assists in the development, and management of the Village’s geographic information system. Provides technical expertise in GIS development, implementation, and maintenance and is proficient in the operation and use of ArcGIS and ArcIMS. Provides user training and support and documents user procedures.

Qualified candidates will have considerable knowledge of geo-processing and mapping, including cartographic procedures and knowledge of technical mathematics; extensive knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS, ArcView, ArcMAP, and ArcIMS GIS products; advanced knowledge of SQL relational database design, development, and management; knowledge of Visual Basic.NET and Crystal Reports; familiarity with land surveying practices; ability to document procedures and provide training for end users; skills to communicate technical and non-technical information effectively; ability to successfully coordinate activities with others; ability to efficiently utilize Windows - based software products.

Qualified candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Geography, or related field and is required and have 3-5 years experience with GIS. Experience with municipal GIS development is preferred.

Candidates must have a Class B Commercial Drivers’ License (CDL) or ability to obtain within 6 months.

The salary range is between $60,000 to $70,000 DOQ.
