Working in the right-of-way planning group, you will provide mapping products, and geographic information systems (GIS) and data management services for the planning of transmission projects and for various other clients, using MicroStation and related applications. You will use and help maintain GIS software and related data for mapping and analytical applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Producing and revising digital mapping information.
  • Managing large volumes of digital files.
  • Providing support of mapping programs and software.
  • Translating client requests and technical information into maps.
  • Providing land/resource data based on mapped/GIS information.
  • Assisting in development of a spatial data storage system.
  • Helping troubleshoot issues with mapping/GIS-related programs and data.
  • Helping to test and apply new software.


Qualifications:

  • Technical diploma in GIS technology, geomatics, geography or equivalent.
  • 2 or more years of experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GIS applications, working knowledge of MicroStation, and ability to interface with other mapping applications and standard Office applications.
  • A good working knowledge of land survey and cartographic projections.
  • Ability to visualize final products from the conceptual stage.
  • Excellent organizational skills, interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work independently with little supervision.
  • Ability to work under the pressure of tight time lines.
