Note that classrooms are limited in size, so register early to be sure you can attend your preferred course.

Land Records and GIS Integration

Instructors:
Peirce Eichelberger, gDBMS, Inc., Collegeville, FL
Ed Crane, Esri, Topeka, KS

This workshop will be of interest to GIS and CAMA interests who want to understand their role in Land Record/GIS integration; Clerks/Recorders, and their staff members who are interested in playing a major role;  IT interests and business partners will also be quite interested in understanding the keys, workflows, data models and specifics of integration.

The one-day workshop will cover the following topics:

  • A land records overview for GIS and Assessment attendees—Did you know that in some jurisdictions over 200 record types are recorded?
  • A GIS overview for Land Record interests—We will be sure to cover some of the latest uses of GIS with land record data.
  • What exactly is Land Record/GIS integration—How can GIS and Assessment users/CAMA benefit?
  • A focus on workflows, data sharing, record improvements—Workflows where the benefits are found in reducing backlogs and improving record accuracy.
  • Keys and identifiers—Some useful details you can use immediately.
  • Land record modernization—The twelve steps.
  • Revenue opportunities—Positive revenue streams, new capabilities, everyone wins!

Introduction to Valuation and Spatial Analysis

Instructors:
Patrick O’Connor, O’Connor Consulting Inc, Plano, TX
Michael Ireland, City of Bloomington Township, Bloomington, IL

This workshop introduces concepts in data analysis, residential valuation models, and location analysis using generic statistical software and geographic information systems software for location analysis. This workshop is for anyone who has limited experience with GIS or CAMA/AVM systems and wants to review basic concepts. Bring a laptop for some hands-on labs. Software and data to be provided.

NEW OFFERING! A rare opportunity for advanced modelers and CAMA vendors!

Spatial Statistics for Assessors: Using Advanced Tools in ArcGIS and the Spatial Analyst and Geostatistical Analyst Extensions

Highly requested offering derived from IPTI’s Spatial Analysis Symposium (June 2011/Chicago). Sponsored by IPTI and Esri.

Participants:

  • Jerry German, Director of Education and Research
International Property Tax Institute (IPTI), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
  • Linda Beale, PhD, Esri, Redlands, CA
  • Jennifer Kuntz, Esri, St. Charles, MO
  • Deb Pratt, CAMA/GIS Consultant, Temperance, MI

Learn about existing tools within ArcGIS that are useful to assessors in the valuation process, with an emphasis on statistical models that incorporate location using GIS. This course is designed to give the technical appraiser a better understanding of the existing tools for statistical analysis and visualization that are available in GIS, and explain/demonstrate their typical use in an assessment context.  The course is segmented into (a) an introduction of GIS tools and analysis techniques that assessors are using today, (b) an in-depth review of statistical and visualization tools available in the core ArcGIS softwarethat most jurisdictions have but may not be using, (c) a 2-hour primer on other sophisticated and useful tools that are also available with Geostatistical Analyst, (d) the important uses of Model Builder, Tool Bars, and Templates that simplify and standardize GIS processes, and (e) a live demonstration of Geostatistical Analyst deriving locational (percentage) adjustments in both research and actual implementation for residential, commercial, and agricultural property types.  A Global Response Surface model will be built using Krieging and locational adjustments that are estimated and written back to a statistical or modeling program for application and validation.

This workshop is especially suited to experienced valuation modeling staff, GIS staff that support assessors, and valuation consultants wishing to learn more about where GIS tools can help in the assessment/valuation process.

First-Time Attendee Orientation Meeting
