16th Annual GIS/CAMA Technologies Conference - Tuesday Details

Opening Session
8:30–10:00 AM

Danielle Simpson, 2012 Conference Chair, will welcome attendees and talk about conference highlights and not-to-miss events. IAAO and URISA leaders will report about association activities and the importance of this annual event.

We are honored to welcome Michael Amezquita, Chief Appraiser of the Bexar Appraisal District as our keynote speaker. His presentation, “Let the River Run…San Antonio’s Economic Engine,” will cover the history of the San Antonio Riverwalk and its economic impact on the city.

Michael A. Amezquita was born and raised in Austin, Texas. He possesses an Associate Degree in Property Tax Appraisal which he acquired at Austin Community College in 1986.  He received his Registered Professional Appraiser Designation in 1987 from the Board of Tax Professional Examiners.  He became a Certified Tax Administrator in 1995 through the Texas Association of Assessing Officers.
 
Since June 16, 2003, Mr. Amezquita has served as Chief Appraiser of the Bexar Appraisal District.  Prior to that, he served as Chief Appraiser of the Cameron Appraisal District from February 1995 through June 2003.
 
Mr. Amezquita served as a Board Member of the Board of Tax Professional Examiners from 1999 - 2006, serving as past Chairman of the Board for the 2003-2004 term.  He also served as part of the Technical Advisory Committee Property Tax Division for the Comptroller of Public Accounts from 1995- 2001.  He served as President of the Texas Association of Appraisal Districts in 2005; and serves on statewide legislative committees.

He is happily married to Mrs. Patricia Amezquita and has one son, Nicholas.  In his spare time, he enjoys golf, golf, and most of all, golf.

 


To close the session, the conference committee has organized a 'Breakout Session Preview' to help you figure out which sessions to attend. Each breakout session will be summarized and presented succinctly as a Lightning Talk. This should be both helpful and very entertaining!
