Technical Tours
9:00 AM - 12:00 Noon

Attendees have the opportunity to register for one of two technical tours that will showcase technology in action in the Portland area. There is a $35 charge to attend a technical tour.

Portland Metro Data Resource Center (GIS Shop)

Metro, the regional government in the Portland metropolitan area is a short walk from the Doubletree Hotel. You are invited to come visit Metro's Data Resource Center where the GIS Division is housed. See how the DRC functions and specifically how streets and addresses are maintained and provided to fire departments and 9-1-1. There will be a short introduction to GIS and the Regional Land Information System, lots of maps to see, and friendly people to answer your questions.

Clackamas County C-Com 911 Center

Hop on the bus for the short trip to Oregon City, home of the Clackamas County Department of Communications (C-COM). C-COM provides 9-1-1 emergency and non-emergency call taking service to the public and provides radio dispatch services to 6 law enforcement agencies and 9 fire districts and departments. In 2007, C-COM and Clackamas County’s GIS Division worked to implement an integrated CAD and GIS system, bringing maps to the console and using the GIS street centerline for dispatch. Come tour our operations floor and get a behind the scenes look with our technical staff at how all of this data is put into place and functions in our 9-1-1 center.

Register in advance to be sure of getting a ticket. If any spots are available, you may purchase a ticket on-site at the conference.

Note that tours will be completed by 12:00 Noon to accommodate afternoon departures from Portland.
