The 13th Annual Conference for Professionals in Property Assessment, Tax Administration, Mapping and Information Technology
The International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO) and the Urban and Regional Information Systems Association (URISA) are pleased to announce the 13th GIS/CAMA Technologies Conference, to be held February 8-11, 2009 in
Charleston. This conference is designed to foster collaboration and integration of data, technology, and functionality.
We invite you to share your knowledge and ideas with your colleagues and peers. You are encouraged to submit an abstract for consideration by the Conference Program Committee. A review committee of IAAO and URISA members will organize an education program based on the abstracts submitted through this Call for Presentations.
All abstract submissions received by September 19, 2008, will be reviewed and considered for this comprehensive educational program.

The Committee has specified three general program tracks for this year’s conference and has provided topic ideas for each (please note that all abstracts will be considered for the program—whether or not they fit directly into one of these tracks):

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Deadline: September 19, 2008
Selection Criteria
The following items must be explicitly addressed for an abstract submission to be considered:
a) Basic Theme: The presentation description must convey the basic theme of the presentation. Does it address the technical or management aspect of the subject?
b) Value of the Subject: Your proposal should indicate which audience segment would be most interested in your presentation (i.e., elected officials, technicians, managers, etc.) and what will be learned from the presentation.
c) New or Innovative Information: The presentation should focus on new insights and lessons learned.
Please note that:
a) Presentations that market specific products and services will not be accepted, nor are presentations of this nature acceptable at the conference. (There is a separate vendor track for exhibitors.)
b) Case histories should be presented by the sponsoring organization, not by vendors.
c) Presentation descriptions should conform to format specifications and be error-free.
d) All abstract submissions are due on or before September 19, 2008.
e) If accepted, expect to provide a full paper for publication in the Conference Proceedings during or immediately following the 2009 conference.
f) All accepted presenters must register and pay the standard conference registration fee.
Presentation Format Options
Indicate the presentation format that is best suited for your proposal.
Single presentation—individual presentation that will be scheduled with one or two other presentations to form a cohesive session of 90 minutes in length. Each
presenter is allotted 20-30 minutes, plus 10 minutes for questions from the attendees.
Complete session—comprised of three individual presentations, SUBMITTED TOGETHER, with a common theme. A complete session is 90 minutes in length.
Panel—90-minute presentation that encourages interaction and discussion between the panelists and the attendees. Panel presentations should include at
least three panelists all speaking on different aspects of a particular topic.
Proceedings and Speaker Registration
Presenters whose proposals are accepted are expected to submit written papers for publication in the Conference Proceedings. If PowerPoint or slide presentations are submitted for inclusion in the Proceedings, a narrative description must accompany them. Proceeding papers are due in electric form during or immediately following the conference.
All accepted presenters must register and pay the standard conference registration fee.
