Sharing Knowledge: The Affordable Solution to Today’s Challenges
Conference Program
The 13th Annual Conference for Professionals in Property Assessment, Tax Administration, Mapping and Information Technology
The International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO) and the Urban and Regional Information Systems Association (URISA) are pleased to announce the 13th GIS/CAMA Technologies Conference, to be held February 8-11, 2009 in Charleston. This conference is designed to foster collaboration and integration of data, technology, and functionality.
Welcome from the 2009 GIS/CAMA Technologies Conference Committee Chair
In 2008 we celebrated “The Big Easy Way to Jazz up Your Value,” in New Orleans. In 2009 we open the door to affordable education opportunities in North Charleston, South Carolina. This year we bring you "Sharing Knowledge - The Affordable Solution to Today's Challenges". With the current economic climate, the committee has made every effort to pack education, value and economy into the program. The choice of two affordable hotels will be an attractive feature for attendees. The multiple plenary sessions also provide good value.
The committee has made a special effort to assemble a program that reflects current thinking and practical applications using available technology. Our expectation is that you will come to Charleston with specific issues to resolve and bring home ideas and information that you can directly apply within your jurisdiction. Sharing knowledge is a powerful way to combat economic pressures. Join us and empower yourself with knowledge.
The planning committee is once again offering three tracks instead of four to maintain the strong focus of the conference and make it easier for attendees to choose a track that best suits their learning needs.
Come to Charleston to learn, explore, and celebrate a tradition of change that makes this conference a must-attend event. The entire Conference Planning Committee is looking forward to seeing you at the Embassy Suites in North Charleston, South Carolina!
Bob Bates, Alachua County, FL - Conference Chair
About the Conference
The 13th Annual GIS/CAMA Technologies Conference will help assessment and appraisal professionals and GIS managers to visualize how they can work more effectively through the use of technology. Attend the 2009 Conference to explore the important role that GIS and CAMA technologies play in providing access to data and analysis of information so that you can make better decisions in your jurisdiction.
| "This year's conference promises to bring together GIS and valuation professionals from around the world. Come share your ideas and hear from others how to tackle the challenges and solve the problems unique to the valuation community in these trying times. As you read through the presentations, take note of the emphasis given to the current economic conditions. You can't afford to miss it." -Bill Nelson, Government of the District of Columbia |
Program Topics
The Committee has specified three general program tracks for this year’s conference.
Professional Development & Management Strategies - This track is designed for individuals involved with managing GIS and/or Assessor offices, as well as those trying to increase their core knowledge. From hiring and retaining employees, to strategizing how best to manage your GIS and CAMA environments, to seeing what other counties are doing, this track will provide a wealth of insight on how to get the most out your people and your technology.
Property Valuation & Modeling Techniques - CAMA Modeling has come a long way. What are the methods and results of mathematical models used in the appraisal of property? The presentations in this track focus on the use of location in models, visual display of results with GIS, advanced modeling techniques, 3-D visualization and other related topics.
Technologies & Techniques - Stay ahead of the curve and get the most return on the GIS investment. Take a look at the road to Enterprise GIS, best practices, new and emerging technologies, the latest in Web development, mitigating technological changes, LIDAR visualization, viewpoints on the Cadastral Fabric, and more.
