Introduction to GIS & Assessment

This is an introductory-level workshop intended both for GIS technicians and staff members interested in using GIS as a powerful assessment tool. The workshop provides a broad overview of the functionality of GIS, providing some examples of how GIS is currently being used, and information about the various types of GIS software available. It also includes information about GIS management and management decisions and will take a critical look at the theory and practices that together comprise GIS. This is not a hands-on course.

Instructors:
Cynthia Braddock, Boulder County Assessor’s Office, Boulder, CO
Bill Campbell, Hart InterCivic, Lafayette, CO

Introduction to Valuation & Spatial Analysis

This workshop introduces concepts involved in data analysis, residential valuation models, and locational analysis. Concepts will be introduced through the use of generic statistical analysis software and geographic information system software for locational analysis. This workshop will provide background information systems (GIS) as applied to property valuation. This workshop is especially useful to conference attendees who have limited experience with either GIS or CAMA/AVM systems and want to review basic concepts in one or both fields.

Instructors:
Patrick O’Connor, O’Connor Consulting, Inc, Plano, TX
Michael Ireland, City of Bloomington Township, Bloomington, IL

Field Automation Options for Local Government

The ever increasing number of computer and web enabled devices is pushing the need and ability to make information available to people anytime in any place. This workshop explores several of the key technologies involved in making data available to field personnel, office staff and customers through integrated front and back office systems. It also highlights the advantages of such systems through the use of actual case studies and real world implementations.

Instructor: Tripp Corbin, MCP, CFM, GISP, Keck & Wood, Inc, Duluth, GA
