This is an introductory-level workshop intended both for GIS technicians and staff members interested in using GIS as a powerful assessment tool. The workshop provides a broad overview of the functionality of GIS, providing some examples of how GIS is currently being used, and information about the various types of GIS software available. It also includes information about GIS management and management decisions and will take a critical look at the theory and practices that together comprise GIS. This is not a hands-on course.

This workshop introduces concepts involved in data analysis, residential valuation models, and locational analysis. Concepts will be introduced through the use of generic statistical analysis software and geographic information system software for locational analysis. This workshop will provide background information systems (GIS) as applied to property valuation. This workshop is especially useful to conference attendees who have limited experience with either GIS or CAMA/AVM systems and want to review basic concepts in one or both fields.
