Database Administrator
City of Lacey, Washington
Description: The Database Administrator designs, installs and maintains databases residing on the City’s computerized information network.
Responsibilities:

Supports multiple databases that run city-wide business applications which are accessed by multiple departments.

Provides technical assistance and training, interacts with end users to identify individual department needs.

Report generation and integration utilizing a variety of solutions, including Crystal Reports, SQL programming and other contemporary database reporting tools.

Creates installation plans; independently installs and configures software; customizes off-the-shelf applications, coordinates work with and/or oversees vendors responsible for installing software.

Creates database structures, codes, tests and implements databases and database parameters.

who possesses excellent communication skills, both oral and written, as well as strong computer skills.
Qualifications:

Associates Degree in Computer Science or related field.

Three years of experience operating a computer in a commercial or public setting, and one to two years experience in programming in RPGLE and/or SQL.

Excellent working knowledge of programming and programming languages; reporting tools including, but not limited to; Sequel Report Writer, Crystal Reports, .NET, RPGLE, COGNOS scripting and batch file configuration using iSeries OS400, MS SQL, Access, and other relational database programs; Windows Network, iSeries OS400 or similar platforms. Experience in all aspects of database design, setup and operation.
