URISA's 50/50 Campaign for the Future

Has URISA touched your life in a way no other organization does?

URISA continuously strives to have an impact on the GIS community and to be not only relevant but also important.

Throughout its history URISA has been a primary mover in urban and regional information systems research, development, and applications, and has been a pioneer in GIS education, promotion, adoption, and implementation. URISA is approaching its 50th anniversary (2012), and in order to make sure the
organization continues to serve governments, businesses, educational institutions, and individuals for another 50 years, we need to build capacity to support and promote URISA’s new program initiatives.

The goal for the URISA 50/50 Fund Drive is to build capacity to support new program initiatives which are recommended by the Blue Ribbon Panel and approved by the URISA Board of Directors. The following initiatives have been selected for immediate attention and which are described in further detail here:

  1. Putting our archives online. PROGRESS being made on this initiative!
  2. Providing scholarships.
  3. Funding distance learning projects.
  4. Funding research proposals.
  5. Supporting new membership initiatives.
  6. Supporting a speakers’ bureau.
  7. Refurbishing existing chapters and establishing new chapters.

Contributions to URISA — a 501(c) (3) organization — are tax deductible All contributions will be used to further the mission of URISA through the support of existing programs and the development of new programs as noted above.

Please consider supporting URISA as it looks to the future. You are an important part of it!

Thank you in advance for your support,

Barry Wellar and Martha Wells, Co-Chairs
URISA Past Presidents’ Blue Ribbon Panel - 50/50 Fund
