GIS-Pro 2013: URISA's 51st Annual Conference for GIS Professionals

September 16-19, 2013
Providence, Rhode Island

Since 1963, URISA members and friends from around the world have gathered to learn about, share and discuss all things geospatial. With GIS-Pro 2013 in Providence, URISA begins its next fifty years of annual conferences.

Whether you are an established or emerging GIS Professional, the GIS-Pro Conference is for you.

Go beyond basic technology and applications and contemplate issues related to policy, standards, GIS leadership and management. GIS-Pro offers a unique multidisciplinary approach, with participation from all levels and agencies of government, academia, consultants, developers, technology providers...so you receive the benefit of a variety of viewpoints and experiences.

Join your colleagues, peers, thinkers and doers from around the world at GIS-Pro, URISA's Annual Conference for GIS Professionals, being presented at the Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence, Rhode Island.

Some recent post-conference feedback includes:

  • "Participating in the conference allowed me to rejuvenate my enthusiasm for GIS. It reminded me about all the possibilities that GIS has to offer."
  • "Listening to experts share their visions for the future of GIS and interesting uses for GIS. I enjoy being exposed to intelligent people and hearing new ideas."
  • "I've been to many regional and some national GIS conferences, however, this one widely exposed me to a section of thought which is more rare at other conferences. The most valuable parts were key insights (often from long time URISA members). Some of these came in keynotes and the thought leaders' panel, others were scattered throughout the sessions or in hall conversations."
  • "URISA offered great tracks for upper management."
"For me, every GIS-Pro is like being in an intellectual nuclear reactor, where smart people come into close contact, ideas collide, thought processes accelerate, new ideas are formed, and then those ideas spin off around the world as we return home to shake things up by trying new technology, new applications, new processes, and methodologies.  The results are often unexpected and very disruptive! Your bosses and co-workers should be thinking the day that you return to work, ‘…oh no, he/she’s back from that URISA thing! What new ideas does she/he want us to try now?’" - Greg Babinski, GISP, King County GIS Center, Seattle, Washington

URISA is pleased to announce that GIS-Pro 2013 is co-hosted by the New England Chapter of URISA (NEURISA)
