Beginning in December 2010 with the release of apportionment data and continuing in 2011 with release of redistricting data and Summary File 1, the U.S. Census Bureau has been providing data users with an updated view of tends in population distribution as revealed by the 2010 Census. Which metropolitan and micropolitan statistical areas have grown most rapidly this decade? What have the growth patterns this decade been for the nation’s largest cities? Have any cities with long-term population declines rebounded this decade? Have some long-booming cities ceased to grow? How do the overall trends for this decade compare to the 1990s?
In this presentation I will address these and other questions with respect to population change and distribution at a variety of geographic levels, from the national level to regions, states, metropolitan and micropolitan statistical areas, and cities.
