URISA, The Association for GIS Professionals, is pleased to announce the results of its 2012 Board of Directors’ Election. Allen Ibaugh will become President-Elect of the association and Doug Adams, Danielle Ayan and Claudia Paskauskas will begin their terms as members of the Board of Directors, at the close of GIS-Pro 2012: URISA's 50th Annual Conference in Portland, Oregon, September 30-October 4, 2012.
URISA has announced an important new initiative to develop a GIS Management Institute. Greg Babinski, URISA President, made the announcement during a presentation at the 2012 Esri User Conference in San Diego. The GIS Management Institute (GMI) will develop resources and services that focus on promoting the advancement of professional best practices and standards for the management of GIS operations.
URISA is pleased to announce the results of the 2012 URISA Student Competition. Students were recognized in both Paper and Poster categories and their submissions are posted online to share with the GIS Community.

URISA has announced an extension of the discounted early registration rate to August 1 for GIS-Pro 2012: URISA’s 50th Annual Conference for GIS Professionals. GIS-Pro 2012 is taking place September 30-October 4, 2012 in Portland, Oregon.
URISA’s GISCorps is pleased to announce its milestone 100th mission. Since GISCorps was founded in 2003, 362 GISCorps volunteers have been deployed to 100 projects in 46 countries. They have collectively contributed over 11,500 hours to these projects. The deployed volunteers come from 35 countries.

URISA, the Association for GIS Professionals, has added several significant webinar events to the 2012 URISA Connect calendar. The next event, "I’ve seen the Future and it’s my Browser: GIS Development in the Mobile Era", will be presented on Wednesday, April 11, 2012. Presenters Dave Bouwman and Brian Noyle of DTSAgile will discuss trends in web and mobile development with a focus on how the GIS community can leverage these technologies in the delivery of maps and “geo” functionality to a wide audience.
