No matter where we have lived we've usually made it back to NYC about once each year for Broadway or the museums. For my birthday (in January, the 17th Benjamin Franklin's birthday too) Dee and I were
back in the City. I wanted to see the Silk Road exhibit at the Museum of Natural History. It is there through August 15th of 2010. We also stumbled upon a musical gathering, at the museum, of native peoples from along the Silk Road playing their native musical instruments....fantastic! Definitely first rate. Music is on certain weekends only.
The next day we ended up at the Folk Art museum (next to the MOMA) and then to the NY public library. There we stumbled on "Mapping New York's Shoreline 1609-2009". The exhibit had map examples from Henry Hudson's epic voyage to modern map examples. Absolutely first rate, worth a visit if you are within 200 miles of the City! It was a Sunday so we missed the map room, which is worth a return trip.
Through June 26, 2010 at the main library (near Rockefeller Center).
