Within this technical position, the successful candidate will prepare and maintain the City’s digital base, legal and utility service maps; be required to research, read, interpret and print Engineering drawings; input and edit Engineering data; interpret survey drawings; develop customized mapping; and extract, convert and interpret data from various sources. The candidate will assist in the development and creation of databases and will be expected to make operating decisions within defined project/program parameters, in addition to presenting GIS work at small group meetings and supporting GIS users.
QUALIFICATIONS:
This position requires a one year GIS diploma supplemented by a minimum of two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Knowledge of: industry mapping standards, requirements and principles; computer-assisted mapping techniques including the ESRI suite of Arc products; and experience utilizing database software such as MS Access or ArcSDE. Ability to: comprehend and adapt new techniques and procedures; research and assemble required data; complete multiple projects simultaneously, assigning tasks to colleagues; and establish and maintain skills related to GIS development. Applicants with knowledge of Autodesk’s AutoCAD and Hansen Asset Management preferred.
