Lake County is looking for a GIS Analyst who will be responsible for performing needs assessments on end user applications.  Duties include designing spatial data coverage and associated databases, designing and recommending workflow to create and maintain spatial data.  Participate in developing and implementing standards.  Initiate programs and the customization of GIS software to support applications.  Provide assistance in capacity planning for data storage, processes and networks the impact of GIS applications and creates metadata.  Responsible for performing spatial data administration support and advanced analysis for special projects.  Participate in teaching end users and provide advanced level support for applications.

Requirements: 
Completion of a Bachelor’s degree with significant course work in GIS and other studies relevant to county government operations (geography, planning, environmental science, etc.) Training in the GIS software used by Lake County and related software. Formal training and/or skill in using desktop software such as databases, electronic spreadsheets, or other graphics software used as a standard in Lake County.

This position has primary responsibility for Princeton University's Space and Property Management Information System (SPMIS) and for managing Facilities' SPMIS unit.

The Assistant Manager is expected to: Provide leadership, management, and administration to ensure excellent SPMIS services for customers throughout Facilities and Princeton University. Create or enhance processes to deploy the necessary resources required to support the University's need for more accurate and timely space information. Coordinate the centralization for spatial data for the SPMIS enterprise system that supports customers throughout the University, but particularly in Facilities and in the Provost's office. Lead efforts to better utilize SPMIS on campus and to leverage past and future investments in SPMIS to better steward the campus, allocate space and plan.

Job Qualifications:

Minimum of an Associate's Degree in architecture, engineering, building science, planning or related field is required; and at least four years of progressively responsible experience in SPMIS/GIS. Experience with Archibus FM and ESRI (or their equivalents) is strongly preferred. Significant experience in higher education or a related/equivalent organization is highly desirable.

GIS Day Activities

For the past 9 years, Delaware County GIS team has been visiting various schools within Delaware County educating students of various ages about GIS, Geography and GIS Day. This year, the GIS office held an open house, a map gallery, and several informational slide shows and games in the County's Hayes Service Administration Building. Over 250 students from Schultz and Conger Elementary Schools and Willis Middle School participated in the event. Volunteers from several other entities such as Delaware Soil & Water Conservation District, Delaware General Health District, and City of Dublin attended and/or presented.

On November 20th two members of the GIS team, Nelda Sisler and Tara Bennett, headed south to Miami University in Oxford, Ohio to help a non profit organization called Caching Our World. The event was held November 18-20, 2008 and was a collaborative effort between Miami University, Caching Our World, and many other volunteers including two members of the Delaware County GIS team.
