The Urban and Regional Information Systems Association (URISA) is pleased to invite you to its fourth conference focusing on the effective application of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and other information technologies in the Caribbean. We are pleased to be hosting this event on Grand Cayman in 2008!
Objectives of the Conference
Full-day preconference workshops are offered on Monday. The workshops are designed to be in-depth classroom experiences and are limited in size. Advance registration is required. Choose from one of three workshop opportunities.
This is an introductory-level workshop intended both for GIS technicians and staff members interested in using GIS as a powerful assessment tool. The workshop provides a broad overview of the functionality of GIS, providing some examples of how GIS is currently being used, and information about the various types of GIS software available. It also includes information about GIS management and management decisions and will take a critical look at the theory and practices that together comprise GIS. This is not a hands-on course.
