In any technology based event, there are bound to be glitches that come along that frustrate both you, the attendee, and us, the Webinar hosts. The most annoying part of these glitches is that we often don't see them until the last minute when the webinar is mere minutes away and we can't rush enough to get the glitches fixed!
To hopefully alleviate as many of these potential glitches, we've put together the following steps to take or stumbling blocks to watch out for and we've listed them by the complaint that comes from them.
There are two immediate reasons that come to mind:
Because your email is the ONLY way to get the confirmation and instructions on joining the Webinar, please make sure that you write your email very clearly. The clear writing that your mom would be proud of, not the clear writing that could get you into medical school.
Since many of our members and attendees are government employees or work in a technical, protective industry, spam filters are strong with our group! The confirmation and webinar instructions come from the email address "messenger@webex.com" If you can get this email approved before registering, please do. If you can't or if you're worried that it will be caught in your work spam, feel free to register with your personal email address. The Webex system is not tied to a database so once the Webinar is over, your email is gone.
One other thing that will help speed along your registration. If one person is registering multiple people, we need an email for each person registered. The Webex system will not allow one email to be applied to more than one person.
If you do not get an email confirmation from messenger@webex.com within 48 hours of your registration, please check your spam and/or junk mail folder, and then contact URISA (847/824-6300, info@urisa.org).
This is an easy fix and once you do it the first time, signing on to Webex is much easier whether your with URISA's Webinars or not. As soon as you register for your first Webinar, visit this link and just follow the instructions to install the player. Be sure to involve your IT department if you need to.
URISA wants your webinar experience to be a positive one. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact URISA.
