URISA NextGen 911 Task Force

Ask the Experts Panel: One of the many educational products of URISA's NextGen 911 Task Force (January 2021)

URISA's NextGen 911 Task Force was established to leverage the expertise of key URISA members in order to support and educate GIS professionals about Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG9-1-1).

The goals of the task force include: 

  • Provide information about the critical role GIS plays in NG9-1-1 and for public safety applications. 
  • Educate the GIS Community on ways  NG9-1-1 facilitates GIS collaboration through the implementation of standards.  
  • Conduct educational workshops and webinars.
  • Solicit input from various organizations across the country about their experience with implementing NG9-1-1
  • Enhance NG9-1-1 task force membership and involvement in URISA.

Get Involved

To learn more about how you can get involved in the  Task Force, please reach out to 2020-2021 Chair Rachel Marquez or Co-Chair Melissa Liebert. 

Key Task Force Members include: Kathrine Cargo, Deb Rozeboom, Hillary Palmer, Dan Miller, Keri Brennan, Ian Von Essen, Jeff Ledbetter, Matt Gerike, Burt Simpson, and many others. 

Any of the Task Force members or URISA’s Executive Director (Wendy Nelson) should be able to include you on our collaboration space (PODIO) and become automatically invited to our Monthly Calls which occur on the Second Tuesday of the month at 8am Pacific/11am Eastern.

  • Fact Sheet Development
  • Webinar Content Development
  • Workshop Planning
  • Collaboration & Best Practices Document Development

The URISA NextGen 911 Task Force is currently adding to the URISA NG9-1-1 offerings to URISA members.
